This list helps recognize institutions and codes, but it does not confirm a payee, branch, account, Pix key, commercial relationship, or payment instruction. Before transferring money or sharing data, confirm through the institution official channel and the recipient details.

What the list returns

The /api/banks/v1 route returns a list of institutions. ispb identifies the record; name is the shortened form displayed by the source; fullName provides the complete denomination; code is the bank code when it exists. Some records have no code, so an absence should not be filled by approximation.

Use name and fullName to tell similar spellings and abbreviations apart.
Keep ispb and code as separate fields; they are not synonyms.
Read address or logo fields only when they appear in the record itself.

Finding a code

On this page, the button loads the full list. First find the institution and check ispb, name, code, and fullName on the same row. BrasilAPI documentation also presents /api/banks/v1/{code} for looking up a specific code already available in the list.

Do not choose a bank from the first familiar-looking abbreviation.
When code is empty, do not replace it with ISPB.
Compare the full name before reusing a code in a form or system.

What the list does not confirm

A bank code identifies an institution in the returned set, but it does not authenticate an operation. The response does not confirm account data, branch, Pix key, account holder, contract, or payment instruction. To move money, confirmation must happen in the official environment and against the recipient details.

Do not treat the result as proof that a payment is legitimate.
Avoid sharing personal or bank data in a reference lookup.
When in doubt, use the institution official support channel before acting.
